Stephanie is a tireless advocate for government transparency and accountability. After years of work, the Kansas Legislature now offers live-streaming of all committee proceedings, an initiative first proposed by Clayton in 2013. She continues to fight for openness in government by advocating for the elimination of anonymous legislation, and the recording of all legislative votes. Keep Taxes Reasonable
Stephanie supports suspending the gas tax during these trying times. She continues to push for the elimination of sales tax on personal hygiene products. Stephanie believes in a balanced tax plan for Kansans. Stephanie fought for, and successfully reduced the sales tax on groceries. She is proud to have been at the forefront of tax reform, and continues to fight for a sustainable tax plan that meets the needs of the state and balances the burden across income, property and sales taxes.
Strengthen Education
As a graduate of Shawnee Mission schools and the parent of children currently in the district, Stephanie understands the important role schools play for the families living here and the economic health of our community. She has unfailingly voted in favor of all measures that would restore funding.
Support Alternative Energy
Stephanie believes that clean energy solutions not only benefit the quality of life in Johnson County, but also lead to increased efficiency overall. Responsible use of resources keeps costs down, and innovation in this field can also mean more American jobs.
Promote Local Control
Stephanie believes in limited government in all aspects, both socially and fiscally. Government’s role is as a service industry to its citizens, and local needs should supersede state and federal mandates.

With family members currently serving or recently serving in the United States Marine Corp, Stephanie recognizes the significant sacrifice those in the armed forces. She understands the importance of making sure they are given the proper care and reward for their service to our country.
Focus on Women's Health
Stephanie knows that healthy women mean healthy families. She has been a strong advocate for access to birth control, and understands that private health decisions are best made by families with their doctors, not the government.

The fiscal future of Kansas depends on the economic engine that is Johnson County. Stephanie backs initiatives that promote the county’s role in those endeavors.
Help Kansans Care for Family Members in Need
Stephanie understands that many families in Johnson County care for disabled and mentally ill family members. She has worked tirelessly to shorten the waiting lists that cause so much struggle for families.
